Who Am I??

 First and foremost I am a mother. A proud mother whose goal in life is to be a positive role model for my daughter. I am a woman that has been through many difficult times in my life but I still continue to push forward and accomplish my dreams. I am curious. I am a very empathetic person. I feel that this is both a gift and curse. It is a gift because it allows me to be a great listener for my loved ones. It is a curse because it makes me a bit more emotional than the average person. I am a consumer; I am guilty of buying brand name products that come in pretty packaging. I am also a musical being. I have always been obsessed with music and it is a big part of who I am. Music is the one constant thing that has been in my life. Music takes my feelings and turns them into words I couldn’t find. Music is happiness, sadness and anger.

Media and advertising have played a huge role in my life. I have always been a serious shopper. During my high school years I could easily be swayed with pretty packaging. I preferred name brand products to generic products, because I had been taught that you get what you pay for. When shopping for clothing or shoes I would base the quality of the item off of the price and name brand. I did all this because my peers led me to believe that these were things I needed to be successful and accepted. I’d watch music videos and read magazines and try to emulate the styles of the celebrities. I would say that the advertisements definitely led me to believe that dressing like a celebrity would make me popular, and more importantly a celebrity myself.

Once I had a child and was no longer dependent on anyone for money, all of name brand mumbo jumbo went out the window. Once I educated myself more on name brand items versus store brand items I realized the only differences were the price and the amount of advertising that went into one.

I decided to share the link to TMZ because I love reading their "news" and celebrity gossip. It usually sends me on my own exciting google searches to further investigate certain people or stories.
