This question had me in tears in 1997 my first year in college, yes I am fairly older than my peers at Hunter College! I had to get an extension on this paper as I wanted to write about who I wasn't, though to my dismay this was not allowed! I had no idea who I was anymore at that time. Softball was no longer in my life, my high school friends for the most part were gone. Long walks in the park and much needed time alone helped me find who I was. Since then I have changed and progressed as all should.
Today I can say I am a genuine, caring passionate woman who returned to college to pursue a dream to help others. I am a woman who hopes to one day teach young students with special needs in a way that they can learn, which might not always focus on the standard math and reading. I believe like Temple Gradin (Temple Gradin on different ways of thinking:visual not verbal) states that we need to focus in on what these children can do excellently and push them in that direction while still teaching the basics and incorporating those basics into what they love whether it be drawing or role playing or science. I am a woman who hopes to become a mother in my near future no matter what obstacles I have to jump over!
I love my job as I get to work with children including special needs children. I would upload a video of the kids doing a science experiment in the bathroom sink but after 10 minutes of waiting for it to upload here I gave up! I also love to cook, it is my passion and something I do when I am stressed which lately is all the damn time! I adore animals greatly, even went running one day just to stop and come home because I had to bring home a hurt sparrow to nurse him back to health!
