Does the media's portrayal of beauty affect women today?

Everyday we are constantly surrounded by the media.  Should be concerned by this?  We've heard about the media's affect on women.  But do this really apply in today’s society with people we know in 2012?  Sadly yes, the media still have a strong affect on women today

In fact things have worsened.  With today's constant media presences.  There are larger volumes of media portraying a distorted version of feminine beauty and showing us various ways to achieve this version of beauty.  Therefore it is important that there are people bringing to awareness the affects of the media's portrayal of women.  With increased awareness more people would become less susceptible to the influences of the mainstream media and hopefully able to live a more healthy lifestyle.

Final Project- Girls and Toys

Summary for the final project
Have you ever thought about why do girls and boys have different toys to play with? Why do parents always buy girls Barbie dolls, and boys get action figures? Well, my project is about these gender bias issues which we often have questions about. Media mainstream have taken control of the way things are and the way it is. Young girls are getting wrong massages playing with just dolls, these dolls are being their role models.

Here is the link to my project, where you can read more about what I have to say about gender bias: http://antbiastoys.tumblr.com/
