Who Am I? That is
a good question; even I do not really know who I am. This seems to be a
question that I have been wondering about since I was a child. Even though I am
22 years old right now I still have not been able to answer this question,
maybe 20 years from now I might be still asking myself this question. But right
now all I can really say about myself is that I am just a girl trying to get a
degree who’s also trying to discover what her passion in the media industry is.
Honestly I only pursued a major in Media because I have not discovered any
other majors that have captured my attentions like Media has.
I live in a world surrounded by media so I am constantly consuming different types of media. My main consumption of the media is mainly through the web. I get my news, email, youtube, facebook, tumblr and lots more through the web. I am ashamed to say that I have cut television off my list of media. I have stopped watching television since I was in junior high when I realized how the dramas and commercials that I have been watching have greatly warped my vision of a how a teen should look like. As a teenager its hard enough going through puberty but to have the media tell a teen how they should look, act, dress to fit in this society is terrible. To have commercials running every few minutes created to explore the insecurities a person has is disgusting and it’s hard to feel good when the media is constantly saying that you’ll never look good enough without a certain product.
This image is how I felt about T.V.
