A Texan turned almost New Yorker... sort of like Holly Golightly.

Every day I wake up, I find that I am still a Texan living in the midst of a bunch of Yanks. Straight from the desert and sand hills of West Texas, I am a woman in pursuit of adventure, wisdom, purpose, and good coffee. There are some people who may even dare to call me a God-fearing Christian, which can seem odd since I have a Jewish heritage. For many conservatives, it can be very scary and intimidating living in the midst of a bunch of blue voting Northerners. However, my favorite catch phrase “I will cut you” tends to get me through the religion and politics focused conversations.

The nice thing about me is that I am not easily offended; I am use to the crazies because my family is full of ‘em and I have a heart for people so I strive to show much grace.  I try my hardest not to “drop judges” because I don’t like to be judged. Experience has taught me that it takes a great amount of strength and courage to have faith in God despite all the suffering in the world, including my own. I try using wisdom and humility in every area of my life that I can and I really enjoy making those around me laugh. People often say to me, “Lyndsi, you have more friends than anyone I know.” My response to them, “Everyone needs at least one crazy person in their life.” I love creativity, fashion, and art. Meeting new people and experiencing new cultures makes me happy, which is why I love New York City. And even though I am far from home, I am still freakishly linked to my parents and siblings.

I know there is a percentage of the population that despises Facebook and other forms of social media, but I am definitely not one of them. I like commenting back and forth on Facebook and following the trends on Twitter.  I don’t watch a huge amount of TV, but like most, I am addicted to my smart phone and my MAC. I am the media coordinator at a global non-profit, so I am not only a media consumer, but also a producer of it.

*As a side note (or disclaimer), I really don’t like the Yankees.  You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the girl!

  1. I was just thinking about the video we watched in class and our presentation and it made me think about how unfortunate it is that the girls that was running for president did not win. I do believe that if more women were encouraged and supported to do great things such as run for president there would be more women shown in a different and positive light.
